Visits to the Voyager Exhibit

Schools from the Waimea community visited the Voyager Exhibit at Kahilu Theater this week. Chadd Paishon, Mike Manu, and Kealiʻi Bertelmann spoke to the students about the history of navigation and voyaging in Hawaiʻi and the important contribution of master navigator Mau Piailug. They also shared about the importance of Mālama Honua (caring for the earth), the building of the coastal sailing canoe Mauloa, canoe plants, food preparation and voyage resources, the star compass, and how they as students have supported Makaliʻi in her upcoming Voyage to Mokumanamana in June of 2019.
